The word homeopathy is taken from the Greek word homeos, meaning "similar," and pathos, meaning "suffering." Thus, homeopathy means "to treat with something that produces an effect similar to the suffering."
This Law of Similars, or the concept of Like Cures Like, is the basic principle of homeopathy. It was first recorded by the famous Greek physician Hippocrates. Hippocrates noticed that herbs given in a low dose tended to cure the same symptoms as they produced when taken in a large, toxic dose.
Homeopathic medicines, or remedies, are prepared from over 8,000 mineral, plant, and animal resources, there are no routine homeopathic remedies. Each person is analyzed regarding their unique nature, and the remedy is selected based on the totality of the symptoms and sensations, not on the type of dis-ease. Homeopathy is highly systematic method of simulating the innate ability of the body to heal itself in order to achieve wellness. Each medicine has been systematically tested on human beings to prove its curative properties.
Homeopathic medicines are non-toxic, with no adverse side effects. The remedies are safe, approved medicines recognized by the Food and Drug Administration, and recommended worldwide by physicians and pharmacists. Lastly, homeopathy works effectively on a wide variety of conditions, including allergies, headaches, digestive disorders, muscular-skeletal disorders, infectious disease, children's diseases, women's health concerns, as well as anxieties, phobias, and depression.
