In
1986, Dr. Andrea D. Sullivan received her doctor of Naturopathic
Medicine (ND) from the four-year program at the Bastyr
University in Seattle, Washington. The program included all
the basic, clinical, and preceptor experiences. In addition, Dr.
Sullivan took advanced courses in homeopathic medicine in both the
United States and Europe. She is a diplomat for the Homeopathic
Academy of Naturopathic Physicians (DHANP), and continues
to study with homeopathic teachers from Bombay, India.

Dr.
Sullivan was the first African-American to receive a Ph.D. in sociology/criminology
from the University of Pennsylvania. After acquiring her advanced
degree, she taught at American University, Howard University, and
the University of Maryland. Subsequent to her teaching career, she
was chosen as the special assistant to Patricia Roberts Harris,
the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during
the Carter administration.
Dr. Sullivan is contributing writer for Prevention Magazine
Health Books, Essence, Heart and Soul, and
Health Quest. She has been featured on network
and cable television, local
radio, and has written many articles.
Dr.
Andrea Sullivan has been called upon to speak
as an expert on naturopathic medicine by a wide range of media
outlets. Her work has also been recognized by community organizations
which value her commitment to good health.
